Build vs. buy a PRM

Vibe-coding a partner portal vs. Magentrix

A coding agent can generate partner portal screens in a weekend. Production also needs SSO, permissions, proper CRM integration architecture, security audits and someone to maintain it. Or you can use Magentrix PRM and still code – vibes or not – on top of it.

What you buildWhere we’re better

A coding agent can build the screens. Partner data, access, the CRM integration and payouts are where mistakes get expensive.

Enterprise programs need custom development on any platform, Magentrix included. The question is what sits on that list. Vibe-coded, the list starts at partner login. On Magentrix, it starts after the standard modules are already running.

CRM integrationWhere we’re better

A sync your coding agent writes copies CRM fields into a separate database. Magentrix mirrors your CRM’s schema instead.

The quickest integration to generate is field mapping: copy CRM fields into the portal’s own database. Every schema change in the CRM then becomes a manual remap, and the portal holds its own copy of the truth.

Magentrix replicates your CRM’s data model instead, so the portal and the CRM cannot drift apart. Writes commit to the CRM first, so your validation rules, triggers and formulas still run there.

SETUP

Configured in minutes

Most Salesforce orgs connect in 5–8 minutes. A very large enterprise org can take a full day.

RECORD IDS

One version of each record

Your CRM record IDs are the primary keys, so two copies of a record never compete.

FIELD LOGIC

Picklists and formulas keep their logic

They mirror as they are, instead of flattening into text fields.

SMART SYNC TECHNOLOGY

Stays inside your API limit

Sync runs every 15 minutes by default, adjusts to how often records change, and can go down to 1 minute.

SecurityWhere we’re better

On a vibe-coded portal, securing partner data is your team’s job.

Keeping partner data safe takes four ongoing jobs.

Access control

Each partner sees only their own records.

Encryption

Data is protected at rest and in transit.

Patching

Security fixes ship as soon as flaws are found.

Penetration testing

Outside testers attack the portal to find gaps.

On a vibe-coded portal your team does all four for everything the agent generated, and the portal joins the scope of your company’s own audits.

On Magentrix that work is ours: the platform is independently audited and certified, hosted in Tier III data centres, encrypted at rest and in transit, and penetration-tested by a third party every year.

MaintenanceWhere we’re better

After launch, a vibe-coded portal is your team’s to maintain – and security and the CRM integration cost the most.

On a vibe-coded portal

Dependency updates, CRM API version changes, security patches and bug fixes all land on your team. The partner team waits on whoever understands the code for every new field or page.

On Magentrix

Platform updates, hosting and security are ours. The partner team changes pages, forms, content, tiers and journeys itself in a drag-and-drop editor, with no ticket and no release window.

The CRM integrationEvery time the CRM changes – this can become very problematic for enterprisesMirrored, no remapping

Ratings are our estimates for an enterprise portal.

The CRM integration is the part most likely to break, and it breaks quietly.

Each of these is a failure your team has to detect, diagnose and fix:

A field or picklist value changes in the CRM. The portal’s copy no longer matches, so records fail to sync or data goes missing.
A CRM validation rule rejects a partner’s update. The portal saved it anyway, so the two systems now disagree.
The sync uses up your daily API limit. Your other CRM integrations stop working too.
The integration user is deactivated or its token expires. The sync stops, and nobody notices until a partner asks where their deal went.
The same record is edited on both sides. One change overwrites the other.
The CRM retires the API version the code was written against. The integration has to be rewritten.
Record ownership or sharing changes in the CRM. A partner can end up seeing another partner’s deals.
Vibe-coding on top of a Basic PRM

The remapping work stays. Basic PRMs map fields instead of mirroring the schema, so for an enterprise with a customized CRM, every schema change is still a remap your team does.

Magentrix

The remapping work never exists. Magentrix mirrors your CRM’s schema, so a CRM change flows through with no remap. Writes commit to the CRM first, so validation rules decide what is saved, and Smart Sync Technology paces the sync to stay inside your API limit.

You can still vibe-code on MagentrixWhere we’re the same (and better)

Unlike Basic PRMs, Magentrix was built for developers from day 1 – so the possibility of vibe-coding on top of it is supported OOTB

Magentrix is a platform as a service, so your developers keep the workflow they like. The difference is that the agent extends a portal that already runs, instead of generating login, permissions and sync from nothing.

Agent Skills for the REST API

Magentrix publishes an Agent Skills definition that any compatible assistant can load.

MCP Connector

Lets any MCP client, including Claude Code and Cursor, connect to your own portal.

Developer IDE and CLI

Built on Vue.js and Tailwind, with Git version control and sandbox portals for testing.

REST API with MEQL

Query and write portal data from your own code, scripts or iPaaS flows in Zapier and Make.

See the developer guide →

What actually decides it

Both let you write code. The decision sits in three places.

CRM integration

A CRM change can break a field-mapped sync, and wrong deal data means wrong attribution and payouts. Magentrix mirrors the schema, so nothing needs remapping.

Security

A breach exposes your partners’ deals and customers, and AI-assisted attacks keep raising the cost of prevention. On Magentrix, that work is ours.

Maintenance

Every patch, update and CRM change lands on your team after launch. On Magentrix, hosting, security patches, platform updates and the CRM integration are all taken care of for you.

FAQ

Vibe-coding a PRM vs. Magentrix

Isn’t building it ourselves cheaper?
The first version often is. The ongoing cost is hosting, security certification, CRM sync upkeep and the developer time every partner-team change needs. See Magentrix pricing here →
Can our developers still use Claude Code or Cursor?
Yes. The MCP Connector exposes your portal to any MCP client, and the Developer IDE, CLI and REST API sit underneath every module. Your developers work in their own tools, against your own portal. See the developer guide →
We already built a prototype. Is that work lost?
The parts that are unique to your channel carry over as custom pages built through the Developer IDE. The standard parts, such as login, deal registration and CRM sync, are replaced by modules that are already running.
Do we need a developer at all on Magentrix?
Not for the standard modules, which are configured with no code. You need one only for work specific to your channel that the modules do not cover. Or use Magentrix’s professional services team for anything you need.
How long does a Magentrix portal take to launch?
Configuration takes about 1.5 hours. The fastest go-live has been 5 hours for an early-stage program and 3 weeks for an enterprise customer. The pace is set by how quickly you come back to our implementation team.
